
During business hours the NMC monitors the safety of community staff members and reports security incidents. It provides 24/7 support to institutions, community staff, members of the public and offenders. The National Monitoring Centre (NMC) is in the National Capital Region.

This helps reduce the risk of cuts and bodily fluids being transferred while searches are conducted.

These are issued to all front-line correctional staff. These are mandatory for correctional officers and primary workers working in special handling units, structured intervention units, maximum- and medium security institutions, treatment centres, and secure units at women offender institutions. Standard pieces of clothing and equipment are provided to keep staff safe on the job. CSC has several measures in place to protect the safety and security of staff. Every day at CSC, thousands of staff members manage a varied offender population.
